Hello Everyone!
I’m excited to share my journey with you as I recover from my Prophylactic Bilateral Mastectomy (PBM) and immediate reconstruction in June. I’ve updated a little bit here and there but have been working on a few posts to provide more information over the next few days.
I’ve had some women contact me who are either recovering from or preparing for a PMB of their own. I’m really happy that by sharing my story, I may help someone else on their own journey. I certainly know it helped me when I was getting ready for this life changing procedure.
So coming up, I plan to share with you my experience of the following.
Nipple Sparing Mastectomy: Was it right for me?
Drains: Drains are evil.
Expansion: The process of using Tissue Expanders to reconstruct my breasts.
Size Matters: From A to B. Or maybe C.

Thank you all for your emails and comments to check in on me. I really am doing great and I look forward to sharing this all with you!

Looking forward to your stories. You brave one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane!! But I think YOU and those that have battled cancer are the brave ones. You are an inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking into the same procedure. I'm 26 and have a moderate risk of developing cancer - plus, I've had many benign growths since 16, and am tired of the vigilance and fear. I don't even know where to start in this process. Is there any advice you can give me? Thanks!

Hi Maddie,
ReplyDeleteI can give you two sites that were extremely helpful to me. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by the "contact me" button above on the right hand side.
FORCE was the major site I visited as it is full of women just like us at every stage of the process.

While not being diagnosed with BC myself, I found the women on breastcancer.org site to be so caring, kind and helpful.

I also followed other women's blog who have been down the same path. I have them linked on my sidebar.
It was so helpful to learn from others so you know how to make the best decisions for yourself and extremely helpful to know what you can expect while going through the process.
God Bless you on this journey Maddie. I'll be praying for you!
